Job Responsibilities
Digiteket is looking for a student assistant for a project that involves investigating the skills needs of staff at Sweden's public libraries. Digiteket is a platform for continuing education and inspiration in the following subject areas:
- the democratic mission of libraries
- digital competence
- media and information literacy (MIL)
- reading promotion and literature dissemination
- accessible reading and accessible media
- research
The content consists of courses and articles created by an editorial team in collaboration with library staff, regional library developers, authorities, researchers, and other relevant actors. The website aims to provide Sweden's public libraries with equal and sustainable access to relevant professional development that strengthens staff's ability to meet the goals of the Library Act.
The purpose of the assignment is to investigate how Digiteket lives up to this by inventorying what content is missing from Digiteket's offerings. In other words, what skills needs do library staff at public libraries have that are not reflected on Digiteket?
You will plan and conduct a qualitative and/or quantitative study with an accompanying analysis. You will have the freedom to determine how you want to carry out the study, for example through surveys, statistics, mapping, or in-depth interviews. Throughout the process, you will receive support from Digiteket's editorial team. You will present the study in the form of a report or similar, detailing the results and providing suggestions for areas of development regarding Digiteket's content based on your analysis.
As a student assistant in Malmö City, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in practice alongside your studies within our operations. We offer you relevant and qualified work experience, valuable contacts, and a salary. The working hours correspond to approximately 10-15 hours per week.
Qualifications
The student assistant program is aimed at those who have completed at least 60 higher education credits and are still studying throughout the assignment period.
We prefer that you study in the humanities or social sciences, and it is advantageous if you are a student in library and information science or have knowledge in these fields. We are looking for someone who is analytical and has a good ability to collect and process statistics and data from, for example, interviews. Previous experience in working with professional development and/or editorial work is a plus. Good knowledge of Swedish is a requirement, both spoken and written. As a person, you are proactive, structured, meticulous, and enjoy working both independently and collaboratively with colleagues. Personal suitability is highly valued.
